"Defying Barriers, Indians With Disability Succeed"
September 29, 2004

NEW DELHI, INDIA--The following four paragraphs are excerpts from a story in a recent edition of India News:

Divya Arora has lived with cerebral palsy and ostracism all her life.

But neither has stopped the 24-year-old from being a linguist, actor, theatre director, French teacher and translator, poet, painter and social activist.

"People can stop me from having a great life only if I let them," grinned Arora, who uses a wheelchair. "And at the moment, I'm really in no mood."

"I've realised that 'normal' is a state of the mind. You are as normal as you believe you are," said Arora who has directed 21 plays in the last four years.
